Description
KEY FACTS
A remarkably rare and highly focused track-bred Maserati, believed to be the only road-registered GranTurismo MC Trofeo GT4 in the world, built as number four of just 42 factory MC Trofeo works cars.
It is powered by a naturally aspirated 4.7-litre V8 producing now producing around 506bhp and running on 99 RON fuel, driving the rear wheels via a six-speed automated manual transmission.
This example was originally campaigned in the Maserati MC Trofeo one-make series before being converted to GT4 specification, and was later adapted for UK road use with a series of mechanical and emissions modifications by Stuart Winterton, who is a long time Maserati aficionado.
Although manufactured in 2010, this example was first registered for road use in December 2019.
The Maserati ‘MC Trofeo’ series ran from 2010 to 2015 with 42 cars built to compete; however, in 2015, Maserati announced that the series would end, but that 40 of the MC Trofeo cars would be serviced and converted to GT4 specification.
Two of these 40 examples were imported to the UK by Ebor GT, with one being successfully campaigned in the British GT Championship and the other, this particular car, being used as an occasional track-day and test car due to a lack of adequately sponsored drivers.
This particular MC Trofeo competed in four of the six rounds of the original MC Trofeo series, including races at Paul Ricard, the Red Bull Ring, the Virginia International Raceway, and finally in Abu Dhabi, which marked the final race in the series in December 2015.
The odometer is understood to indicate 18,262 km from new.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
The GranTurismo MC is the race-only version of the GranTurismo S, developed to compete in the FIA GT4 European Cup and is based on the Maserati MC concept. First released in 2010, all new MCs were delivered race-prepared by Maserati technicians. Entrants who used private teams had to have their cars homologated to meet the equal settings of the in-house raced MCs. It features aerodynamic enhancements and weight reduction over the GranTurismo S, which it was originally based upon.
The race-prepared model featured unique manifolds, a bespoke air intake, no catalytic converters, no ABS, the gearbox had no automatic option, a different, fixed damper suspension set up, different anti-roll bars, a bladder fuel tank, unique 18-inch alloy wheels, 11-inches wide at the front and 13-inches wide at the rear, Plexiglass windows, composite front wings, bonnet, nose cone, boot, doors and rear bumper, a heavy-duty roll cage with Sparco six-point harnesses and Pro-Adv seats, a rear diffuser, straight-through rear exhaust pipes, front canards, and a front splitter, extending to a full floor aero section.
This example is finished in a timeless shade of white with a period-correct red and black ‘GT4’ livery, over a stripped-out interior with a white-painted roll cage, black cloth-trimmed Sparco Pro-Adv bucket seats, and a carbon-fibre dashboard, transmission tunnel and door cards.
It rides on a set of 18-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels finished in gloss-black, framing Brembo brake callipers, and shod in Pirelli P Zero Rosso tyres.
Equipment includes an FIA-compliant roll cage, fixed damper race suspension with uprated anti-roll bars, 380mm front and 326mm rear vented brake discs with multi-piston callipers, a plumbed-in fire suppression system, an AP Racing pedal set, a Magenti Marelli digital display with LED shift lights, a custom centre console with toggle switches, an AP Racing brake balance control knob, a GPS speedometer, and a removable Alcantara-trimmed Sparco steering wheel with button controls.
The extensive list of modifications made for road use include bespoke catalytic converters being fitted to a bespoke CSK race exhaust system, the installation of a MAF sensor, the addition of a parking brake, windscreen washers, front and rear lambda sensors, a remapped ECU with work completed by DMS, and a revised front-end in place of the original extended splitter. *
The seller notes that work was expedited by Ebor Racing, AV Engineering, Sports Italia and DMS to enable the car to be road legal.
The car is accompanied by the V5C and a substantial package of spare parts valued at around £8,000.
One ignition key is included.
CONDITION
Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition.
Specific notes from the seller include: the car was previously used for track and promotional events, so some very minor race-related damages may have occurred, but not confirmed or visual.
The seller also notes that the clutch is 10% worn and parts for the car are still available from Maserati main dealers.
The car’s last MOT test was conducted on 12 August 2025 at 18,262 Km, resulting in a pass with advisories noting that a daylight MOT was issued and the vehicle is only to be used during daylight hours, the nearside inner front wheel was slightly distorted, and the offside rear exhaust mount was defective.
SERVICE HISTORY
This GranTurismo’s most recent routine maintenance was carried out in July 2024 at around 18,000km by AV Engineering and Sports Italia, including a full checkover, and an engine oil change.
In 2019, a thorough inspection and recommissioning were carried out by Sports Italia, with all belts and fluids replaced, track rod ends and drop links renewed, anti-corrosion treatment applied, and various road conversion works. Following these works the car was first MOT tested in 2019.
